The Keelback Hat and Mitts are highly textured, easy-to-wear, and fun to knit!
Both are worked with an unusual construction to challenge the knitter. A cabled band is worked first on both the hat and mitts, and then stitches are picked up from the top and bottom for ribbing and the main body of the pattern.

GAUGE: Hat: 25 sts/30 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in cable pattern on larger needles; 24 sts/27 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette stitch on larger needles. Mitts: 32 sts/32 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in Small Cables pattern on larger needles; 24 sts/32 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette stitch on larger needles.
