Blue Betty was born out of a desire for a colorwork sweater that would be flattering to every body type.

The sweater is worked in one piece from the bottom up, in the round up to the neck shaping and back and forth after that. The only finishing is grafting underarm sts and knitting the ribbed neckband.

SIZES: XS (S, M, L / 1X, 2X, 3X). Sample shown in size S, modeled with about 3 inches negative ease.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Bust circumference: 29.5 (34, 38.75, 43.5 / 48, 52.5, 57.25) inches, or 75 (86.5, 99, 110.5 / 122, 133.5, 146) cm.

YARN: Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage (100% superwash merino wool; 200 yds/183 m per 110g skein); 5 (5, 6, 6 / 7, 8, 9) skeins in Betty Draper’s Blues for MC, 1 skein (all sizes) in Antler for CC.

NEEDLES: US #6 [4.0 mm] & US #7 [4.5 mm] circular needle, 29 inches long; set of DPNs (or preferred type of needles for working sleeves in the round), size US #6 [4.0 mm] & US #7 [4.5 mm]; spare set of DPNs or spare circular needle, size US #7 or smaller.

NOTIONS: Stitch markers: 1 of color/type A, 4 of color/type B; yarn needle; waste yarn.

GAUGE: 19 sts/26 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette stitch on larger needles.

SKILLS NEEDED: Basic knitting and purling, basic increases and decreases, stranded colorwork, grafting (Kitchener stitch), picking up stitches for neckband.
