A bottom-up cardigan featuring front and sleeve cables, waist shaping, and a minimum of finishing. The body is knit in one piece to the armholes, and then the sleeves are knit in the round and joined to the body for the yoke. The only sewing required is grafting (Kitchener stitching) a few underarm stitches!
Pattern also includes tips on how to modify the neckline to be higher or lower to suit your taste.
SIZES: XS (S, M, L, 1X, 2X, 3X). Sample shown in size S, modeled with 2 inches negative ease.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 28 (32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52) inch bust circumference.
YARN: Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage (100% superwash merino wool; 200 yds/183 m per 110g skein); color Graphite; 5 (6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8 ) skeins.
NEEDLES: US #7 [4.5mm] circular needle, 24 inches or longer & 1 set US #7 [4.5mm] double-pointed needles (or preferred type of needles for working sleeves in the round). You will also need a spare set of DPNs or a spare circular needle, US #7 or smaller.
NOTIONS: Stitch markers: 6 in type/color A, 2 in type/color B, 4 in type/color C. Waste yarn, cable needle, yarn needle, & 2 toggle buttons (1.5 inches in length).
GAUGE: 18 sts/26 rows = 4 inches/10cm in stockinette stitch.
SKILLS NEEDED: Basic cabling, grafting, picking up stitches.
